WASHING INSTRUCTIONS

The fitted sheet is durable and can be washed at 60 degrees. Since we have not used chemicals or synthetic fibers in the production of our sheet, we recommend that you use a gentle and chemical-free detergent for your sheet. This way, you ensure that your sheet remains organic. You can, for example, use our soapberries, which are a 100% natural detergent.

MAINTENANCE OF YOUR KAPOK MATTRESS

As with all mattresses, it's a good idea to stand the mattress on its side occasionally to air it out. If you have a bed with a solid base, you should be particularly mindful of airing the mattress regularly. These bed bases make it harder to transport moisture away from the mattress. Kapok transports moisture and heat away from the child, but if the moisture cannot escape from the bottom of the mattress, it gets trapped between the mattress and the solid base. In the worst case, this can lead to mold spores forming under the mattress. Unfortunately, this can happen regardless of the mattress used. Therefore, air the mattress once a week or as needed.

Since a kapok mattress is hand-stuffed with loose natural fiber, it's important to maintain the mattress occasionally as needed (as you would with a futon mattress), by standing the mattress on its side and massaging/pressing the fiber from the edge towards the center, where the mattress is most stressed during use. If this is not done, the mattress can form a depression where the kapok fiber is most compressed.

One of the key ingredients in our PAPILIO mattress is the organic coconut fiber, which is used to add firmness to the mattress core. The coconut fibers are extracted through coconut production, washed and softened, after which the fibers are bound together into ropes that transform the fibers into small springs. The coconut fibers are then bound together with natural latex and formed into springy core components, providing a firm and supportive base in the mattress.
