Accidents in bed happen to grown-ups and children alike, and the protector is a discreet solution. Cocoon's protector goes on top of the mattress and underneath the ordinary sheet, so that the child lies as comfortably as possible. Protectors for larger mattresses are secured with elastic straps around the corners of the mattress, so they stay in place through the night. The protectors for smaller mattresses - cradle, pram and carrycot - come without elastic, because the child moves about less there. The difficulty with a waterproof layer is that air cannot pass through it. Many people find, as a result, that it is not particularly comfortable to sleep on. When Cocoon's protector was developed, it was essential that the layer should be breathable and pleasant to lie on. That was solved by covering the membrane with a fabric of 100% cotton flannel. The membrane keeps liquid away from the mattress, while air can pass through the protector. Washing the protector Cocoon's protector is easy to wash. We recommend that you wash it only when it is needed - every wash uses water and energy, and the fewer the washes, the longer the protector lasts. Wash at 40 degrees, or at most 60 degrees after an accident. Do choose a programme for heavy laundry, as the protector becomes heavy when wet and some machines struggle to spin it.
