Pillows with kapok are our bestsellers

The pillows with kapok were the first pillows with natural filling that we created. Since then, our other natural materials have been added, and now we have a series of pillows in five different types of natural materials. But to this day, it is still our kapok pillows that are most known – they are highly loved by our customers and absolute bestsellers among our pillows, taking your sleep to new heights.

Look forward to an organic pillow made with respect for nature

When you choose an organic pillow with kapok fibers, you get an environmentally friendly pillow produced with humility.

We harvest our kapok from the tall kapok trees in southern India. Here, the kapok receives plenty of warmth from the sun and the dry climate, giving our kapok fibers some truly unique properties. We only use organic kapok from trees that grow wild in nature, so no pesticides, insecticides, or other harmful chemicals are used.

The kapok tree requires minimal maintenance and almost no water to grow. Therefore, kapok is also a renewable resource because the trees produce kapok fibers for many years without needing to be cut down or damaged to harvest the kapok.

Why choose a kapok pillow?

You should choose a kapok pillow if you want a breathable pillow that helps you regulate heat and wick sweat away from your body while you sleep. Additionally, a kapok pillow is a good choice for those who want to consume more sustainably and with consideration for nature.

How does a kapok pillow feel?

A kapok pillow has the perfect combination of firmness and flexibility in the filling material. There is some height to the pillow, making it suitable for side sleepers as it supports the neck. At the same time, it is also flexible in the filling, allowing you to adjust it to the perfect shape for your back and neck.

Our kapok junior pillows and kapok adult pillows  have a zipper on the side, allowing you to adjust the amount of filling as needed.

The kapok pillow is asthma and allergy-friendly

Kapok is a 100% allergy-friendly natural material, so if you or someone in your family suffers from sensitive skin, asthma, or allergies, kapok is the right choice. Kapok naturally contains a bitter substance that prevents certain bacteria, mold, and dust mites from thriving in it. Additionally, no pesticides or insecticides are used in the production of our organic kapok. We harvest it wild in nature, where no humans are allowed to disturb the natural process.

The purity of our kapok pillows, combined with the absolute chemical-free nature, creates the perfect pillow cocktail for those who want an allergy-friendly and natural sleeping environment for themselves and their family.

Which pillow should I choose if I sweat at night?

It's very common to experience problems with sweating at night – both children and adults. You might know the feeling of having to turn and flip the pillow several times during the night to find a dry spot to rest your head.

It's uncomfortable and disruptive, which is why many seek a cooling pillow to alleviate the discomfort of waking up with a pillow soaked in sweat. We highly recommend that instead of choosing a pillow made from synthetic materials, where the manufacturer promises a cooling effect, you choose a natural material for your pillow that is naturally breathable and temperature-regulating. The body breathes and regulates its temperature much better when sweat and heat can escape from the body. Kapok is excellent for these two things. The kapok fiber has a natural wax coating that makes it water-repellent. At the same time, the fiber consists of 80% small cavities, all of which help heat and moisture escape through the pillow and away from your sleeping body.

When you sleep on artificial materials, such as foam, polyester fibers, and memory foam, heat and moisture cannot escape but remain in the material right beneath you. Therefore, you will often wake up to find your pillow wet with sweat.

So if you're looking for a pillow for yourself or your child who sweats at night, our warmest recommendation goes to our organic kapok pillows.

Therefore, at Cocoon Company, you will find a large selection of kapok pillows in many different sizes to meet all ages and needs. We have everything from the smallest baby pillows and junior pillows with kapok to the large pillows for adults.

Inner pillows

Our kapok pillows have become so popular that we have had requests to make them in sizes for sofa and decorative pillows. Therefore, we have created a series of inner pillows in various sizes with kapok filling, which you can use to refresh your sofa – naturally with the cover that fits your home.

Nursing pillows

Our kapok nursing pillows have also become a bestseller. They are filled generously with our lovely kapok fibers to provide you with good support and comfort when breastfeeding or bottle-feeding your child.

The kapok nursing pillow is for those who want to give their child a chemical-free start in life. Your child can lie and eat their meals in a safe environment in the arms of mom or dad, without the nursing pillow releasing harmful chemicals.

The nursing pillows in kapok fit perfectly with our soft and neutral nursing pillow covers in organic cotton.

How to maintain a kapok pillow

Maintaining your kapok pillow is surprisingly uncomplicated, mainly due to the kapok fiber's natural antibacterial qualities and resistance to mold, bacteria, and dust mites. And since your new kapok pillow from Cocoon Company is neither dyed, treated with chemicals, nor contains synthetic materials, there is no need to wash it before first use.

Instead, we recommend shaking and airing the pillow outdoors regularly to keep it fresh and to separate the fibers from each other, so the pillow remains soft and luxurious.

If your pillow gets stained

If minor stains occur, they can be gently spot-cleaned. But to best preserve the airy structure and unique properties of the kapok fiber, we recommend only washing your kapok pillow when absolutely necessary.

The kapok fiber is very delicate and should be handled with care during washing to prevent damage. So even though our kapok pillows can be washed at 60 °C, we recommend washing them at lower temperatures to protect the environment and the fibers as much as possible.

Our junior and adult pillows are equipped with a zipper on the side, allowing you to empty the pillow of filling before occasionally putting it in the washing machine. This way, you don't risk the fine filling being damaged by getting wet, and it retains its original airiness.

Our baby pillows are significantly flatter and have a seam further inside the pillow. Therefore, the baby pillows are easier for you to wash, which will also be more necessary for small children who may drool and spit up on the pillow.

Drying the pillow

If you have washed the pillow including the kapok filling, we recommend spinning at high speeds. Feel free to run an extra spin cycle on the pillow to remove as much water as possible. Then it is necessary to put the pillow in a tumble dryer to ensure optimal drying. The pillow cannot be left wet in the washing machine after washing but must be tumble-dried immediately. Feel free to use our wool dryer balls for this.

As you know, kapok is water-repellent, so the water from the washing machine will settle around the fibers, causing them to take longer to dry than, for example, a fiber pillow. Make sure the pillow is completely dry before stopping the tumble drying. It may well be necessary for the dryer to run a few times. If the pillow is not thoroughly dried, the kapok filling will clump together and become hard.
