The kapok fiber is known for its temperature-regulating and moisture-wicking properties. When you sleep on a kapok mattress, your bed will neither become damp, cold, nor too warm. A kapok mattress is therefore especially suitable for infants. Newborns have difficulty regulating their temperature themselves. It is important for newborns that their temperature remains around 37 degrees, and they must neither become cold nor too warm. Therefore, a kapok baby mattress is the perfect choice for newborns. The fiber quickly reaches body temperature and helps the child regulate warmth. Another advantage of choosing a kapok mattress is that the kapok fiber is resistant to mites, such as dust mites. They like to live in a humid environment, but since the kapok fiber does not absorb moisture, dust mites cannot live in a kapok fiber. CREATE A HEALTHY SLEEP ENVIRONMENT WITH KAPOK

Therefore, we believe it is important to find the sleep products that suit the child's preferences and needs. When you choose sleep products filled with kapok fibers, the child is guaranteed a wonderfully tempered and dry night's sleep. A kapok mattress is firm, as recommended for newborns by the Health Authority. If you still wish to add a little extra softness and comfort to the mattress, we recommend placing a kapok mattress pad on top of the mattress. To protect your kapok mattresses, we recommend using our organic jersey sheet. The fitted sheet is woven from 100% organic cotton, without the addition of synthetic or treated fibers. If you wish to give your child a 100% organic and chemical-free night's sleep, you can supplement the crib with a natural baby duvet and pillow. All our series are 100% organic and chemical-free.

MAINTAINING YOUR KAPOK MATTRESS

As with all mattresses, it is a good idea to stand the mattress on its side occasionally to air it out. If you have a bed with a solid base, you should be particularly attentive to airing the mattress regularly. These bed bases make it harder to transport moisture away from the mattress. Kapok transports moisture and heat away from the child, but if the moisture cannot escape from the bottom of the mattress, it gets trapped between the mattress and the solid base. In the worst case, this can lead to mold spores forming under the mattress. Unfortunately, this can happen regardless of which mattress is used. Therefore, air the mattress once a week, or as needed.
