The central ingredient in the PAPILIO mattress topper is the 100% organic natural latex. Natural latex is known for its soft and comfortable body support as well as its superior breathability. 100% natural latex is also naturally resistant to bacteria, mold, mildew, dust mites, and other allergens, and is naturally hypoallergenic. However, natural latex is not just any latex. Often, natural latex is mixed with synthetic latex or fillers to create a cheaper mattress. Therefore, it has been incredibly important for us to create a natural latex that is certified organic. Our natural latex is therefore GOLS certified, which guarantees that the natural latex is free from artificial and harmful additives, and that the natural latex comes from organic latex plantations where it has been cultivated without the use of artificial fertilizers or pesticides. The latex core is then wrapped in a layer of luxurious organic and untreated wool from New Zealand. The wool gives the mattress topper fantastic temperature-regulating properties, as the wool's air-filled fibers create natural insulation under the body. The lanolin in the wool also helps to conduct excess heat and moisture through the fiber and away from the body. The natural occurrence of lanolin also makes the wool resistant to dust mites and contributes to the mattress topper's hypoallergenic properties. The organic wool is also naturally flame retardant, and the mattress topper therefore does not need to be added or treated with harmful flame retardants.
