Here you get a kapok mattress topper for a single bed in the dimensions 80x200cm. Our mattress topper with kapok filling is the perfect, chemical-free alternative to a foam mattress topper and other chemical-laden materials.

Kapok mattress toppers from Cocoon Company are thus both a delightful addition to our own organic mattresses and to the regular foam mattress you might already have at home. The kapok mattress topper is softer than a regular mattress and will therefore add a little extra softness to your bed.

The mattress topper consists of an outer cover made of strong organic cotton with GOTS certification. The mattress topper is filled with fine kapok fibers, which we harvest from the tall kapok trees in India. The unique aspect of kapok is the fiber's extraordinarily breathable and temperature-regulating properties. It is 8 times airier than cotton, making it unique for transporting heat and moisture away from the body while you sleep.

Additionally, the kapok fiber is also hydrophobic, meaning it is water-repellent. It does not absorb water and moisture like cotton and feather products do. Therefore, a kapok mattress topper for a double bed is the perfect choice for those who sweat and feel hot at night.

Organic coconut fiber with natural latex

One of the key ingredients in our PAPILIO baby mattress is the organic coconut fiber, which is used for the firmer part of the mattress core. The coconut fibers are extracted through coconut production, washed and softened, after which the fibers are tied together into rope, which transforms the fibers into small springs. The coconut fibers are then tied together with natural latex and formed into springy core components that provide a firm and supportive base in the mattress. Since the coconut fiber layer is composed of large fibers, the mattress core contains a lot of continuous air channels, which give the mattress an incredibly high level of breathability. The high breathability allows the child to get rid of the excess heat and moisture during sleep, which is often the problem, as it is difficult for a child to self-regulate its body temperature. The firm base and the high breathability make the coconut base perfect for the child's first months in this world, where sleep is such an important part of the child's life. The National Board of Health, doctors and sleep experts recommend a firm surface with high breathability for the child's first months, as the child's body is not fully developed and cannot turn itself away from suffocation hazards. It is therefore our recommendation that the side closest to the coconut layer is used in the first months of the child, until the child is able to turn himself.

The other key ingredient in the PAPILIO baby mattress is the 100% organic natural latex used for the softer part of the mattress core. Natural latex is known for its soft and comfortable body support as well as superb breathability. 100% natural latex is also naturally resistant to bacteria, mold, mildew, dust mites and other allergens, and is naturally hypoallergenic. But, natural latex is not just natural latex. Most often, the natural latex you see is mixed with synthetic latex or filler materials to create a cheaper mattress. It has therefore been incredibly important for us to create a natural latex that is certified organic. Our natural latex is therefore GOLS certified, which guarantees that the natural latex is 100% pure organic natural latex, free of artificial and harmful additives. It also guarantees that the natural latex comes from organic latex plantations, where it has been cultivated without the use of artificial fertilizers or pesticides. This way you can be sure that the latex core is made of 100% natural rubber, and does not contain synthetic latex, chemicals or filling materials.

The cover around the mattress core is quilted with a layer of gorgeous organic and untreated wool from New Zealand. The wool gives the mattress fantastic temperature-regulating properties, as the wool's air-filled fibers form a natural insulation under the child. At the same time, the lanolin in the wool ensures that the excess heat and moisture is carried through the fiber and away from the child. The natural occurrence of lanolin also makes the wool resistant to house dust mites and contributes to the mattress' hypoallergenic properties. The organic wool is also naturally flame retardant, and the mattress therefore does not need to be added or treated with harmful flame retardants.

The cover is quilted with an unbleached and undyed organic cotton material, so that both the child's sensitive skin and allergies are taken care of. The cover cannot be removed, but can easily be spot washed with a strongly wrung out cloth. If you therefore want to take extra good care of the mattress in the event of an accident, we recommend adding a breathable wet bed sheet.
