Our jersey fitted sheet 70x140 is made of a lovely and heavy quality, woven from the softest 100% organic jersey cotton. Our sheet is produced and processed without the use of chemicals or synthetic fibers.

We find that many manufacturers use chemicals to produce a nice white cotton fabric. We do not. We want to be better than that. When you buy a Cocoon product, you are assured a chemical-free product.

WASHING INSTRUCTIONS

The fitted sheet is durable and can be washed at 60 degrees. Since we have not used chemicals or synthetic fibers in the production of our sheet, we recommend that you use a gentle and chemical-free detergent for your sheet. This way, you ensure that your sheet remains 100% organic. You can, for example, use our soapberries, which are a 100% natural detergent.

Breathable Mattress Protector

When your child grows older and transitions from a crib to a junior bed, it doesn't necessarily mean the end of nighttime accidents. Juniors can also have accidents in bed during the night, which is why a mattress protector can also be relevant for the junior bed.

What is a Mattress Protector?

Both young and old can have accidents in bed, and here the mattress protector is a good discreet solution. Cocoons' mattress protector is placed on top of the mattress and under the regular sheet to achieve the best comfort for the child. The mattress protector for larger mattresses is secured with elastics around the corners of the mattress. This way, the sheet stays well in place throughout the night. Mattress protectors for smaller mattresses, where the child doesn't move much, such as in a crib, pram, and carrycot, are without elastics.

The challenge with regular mattress protectors is that the body cannot breathe through the waterproof layer. Many find it uncomfortable to sleep on a mattress protector. In the development of Cocoons' mattress protector, it was crucial that the layer should be breathable and comfortable to lie on. This was achieved by coating our unique breathable membrane with the finest fabric of 100% untreated cotton flannel. The unique membrane prevents liquid from penetrating to the mattress while allowing the body to breathe through the sheet.

Washing the Mattress Protector

It's easy and simple to wash Cocoons' mattress protector. However, we recommend only washing your sheet if necessary to protect the environment. The mattress protector is 100% Oeko-Tex certified, meaning the sheet does not contain harmful chemical residues that need to be washed away before use.

We recommend washing the sheet at 40 degrees, or a maximum of 60 degrees in case of accidents. Preferably choose a wash program for heavy laundry, as the sheet can become heavy when washed, and some washing machines may have difficulty spinning the sheet. If the water hasn't been spun out during the first spin cycle, we recommend an extra spin. Note that the sheet can shrink by up to 8-10%.

The mattress protector should be air-dried and must not be tumble dried.

GET A GOOD NIGHT'S SLEEP WITH A KAPOK MATTRESS PAD

A kapok mattress pad is a great addition to any mattress - whether you have a foam, latex, or kapok mattress. If you tend to get too warm at night, it might be a good idea not only to change your duvet but also to use a kapok mattress pad on top of your existing mattress. Foam and latex mattresses are not very breathable or good at temperature regulation, which can contribute to you getting too warm at night. Therefore, it might be a good idea to add a moisture-wicking and temperature-regulating base to your bed. The mattress pad quickly reaches body temperature, but once it is warm, it remains body-neutral due to the fiber's airy structure. The airy structure of the kapok fiber is also the reason why the kapok mattress pad can wick moisture and regulate temperature. The kapok fiber is known for its temperature-regulating and moisture-wicking properties. When you sleep on a kapok mattress, your bed will neither become damp, cold, nor too warm. Another advantage of choosing a kapok mattress is that the kapok fiber is resistant to mites, such as dust mites. They like to live in a damp environment, but since the kapok fiber does not absorb moisture, dust mites cannot live in a kapok fiber. Likewise, our organic cotton cover is woven so tightly that dust mites cannot penetrate it. MAINTENANCE OF YOUR KAPOK MATTRESS

As with all mattresses, it is a good idea to stand your junior mattress on its side occasionally to air it out. If you have a bed with a solid base, you should be particularly attentive to airing the mattress regularly. These bed bases make it harder to transport moisture away from the mattress. Kapok transports moisture and heat away from the child, but if the moisture cannot escape from the bottom of the mattress, it gets trapped between the mattress and the solid base. In the worst case, this can lead to mold spores forming under the mattress. Unfortunately, this can happen regardless of the mattress used. Therefore, air the mattress once a week or as needed.

ORGANIC COCONUT FIBER WITH NATURAL LATEX

One of the key ingredients in our PAPILIO junior mattress is the organic coconut fiber used for the firm part of the mattress core. The coconut fibers are extracted through coconut production, washed and softened, then bound together into ropes that transform the fibers into small springs. The coconut fibers are then bound together with natural latex and formed into springy core components, providing a firm and supportive base in the mattress. As the coconut fiber layer is composed of large fibers, the base contains numerous air channels, giving the mattress base incredibly high breathability. The high breathability allows the child to release excess heat and moisture during a period when it has difficulty self-regulating its body temperature.

The firm base and high breathability make the coconut base perfect for the child's very first days in this world, where sleep is such an important part of the child's life. Health authorities, doctors, and sleep experts recommend a firm base with high breathability for the child's early days, as the child's body is not fully developed and cannot turn away from suffocation hazards. Therefore, we recommend using the side closest to the coconut core in the child's early days until the child is big enough to turn itself.

GOLS CERTIFIED NATURAL LATEX

The other key ingredient in the PAPILIO junior mattress is the 100% organic natural latex used for the softer part of the mattress core. Natural latex is known for its soft and comfortable body support as well as superior breathability. 100% natural latex is also naturally resistant to bacteria, mold, mildew, dust mites, and other allergens, and is naturally hypoallergenic. However, natural latex is not just natural latex. Often, natural latex is mixed with synthetic latex or fillers to create a cheaper mattress.

Therefore, it has been incredibly important for us to create a natural latex that is certified organic. Our natural latex is therefore GOLS certified, guaranteeing that the natural latex is free from artificial and harmful additives, and that the natural latex comes from organic latex plantations where it has been cultivated without the use of artificial fertilizers or pesticides. Thus, you can be sure that the latex core is made of 100% natural rubber and does not contain synthetic latex, chemicals, or fillers.

ORGANIC & UNTREATED NEW ZEALAND WOOL

The cover around the mattress core is quilted with a layer of luxurious organic and untreated wool from New Zealand. The wool gives the mattress fantastic temperature-regulating properties, as the wool's air-filled fibers form a natural insulation under the child. The lanolin in the wool also ensures that excess heat and moisture are conducted through the fiber and away from the child. The natural occurrence of lanolin also makes the wool resistant to dust mites and contributes to the mattress's hypoallergenic properties. The organic wool is also naturally flame retardant, so the mattress does not need to be added or treated with harmful flame retardants.

GOTS CERTIFIED ORGANIC AND UNTREATED COTTON

The cover is quilted with an unbleached and undyed organic cotton fabric, protecting the child's sensitive skin and allergies. The cover cannot be removed but can be easily spot cleaned with a well-wrung cloth. Therefore, if you want to take extra care of the mattress in case of accidents, we recommend adding a breathable mattress protector.
