Our natural latex pillow with wool is for you who enjoy the springy, supportive feel of latex combined with loose fibre filling. Small pieces of natural latex are blended with merino wool in a pillow that allows you to redistribute the filling and adjust the amount. This is useful if you want to adapt the pillow’s fullness rather than keep the amount it comes with. You can shape the filling around your head and neck and remove some if the pillow feels too high or too full. This lets you adjust both the distribution and the total amount of filling until it feels right for you.

IT’S WHAT’S INSIDE THAT COUNTS
At Cocoon Company, we choose materials for their properties and the role they play in each product. In this pillow, we combine organic natural latex and untreated merino wool from New Zealand with organic cotton covers. The latex provides elastic give, while the wool adds fine fibres with excellent temperature-regulating properties. Each component has its own role in a pillow where material choices and everyday use go hand in hand.

Organic natural latex for supportive comfort
Natural latex is made from the milky sap of the rubber tree. The material yields under pressure and returns towards its original shape when the pressure is removed. This elasticity creates the springy, supportive feel you notice when resting your head on the pillow. It offers a steady, comfortable feel for those who want a pillow that is not too firm, but who also prefer not to sink too deeply into a soft filling. We use small pieces of natural latex blended with wool. This construction offers a different way to adjust the pillow compared with a solid, moulded core: the individual pieces form a loose filling that you can redistribute, remove or add back.

Merino wool from New Zealand
Merino wool is a remarkable natural fibre with a complex structure. The fibre can absorb moisture vapour within its structure and release it again as the surrounding conditions change. This is one of the properties that makes wool an interesting material for products we use close to the body. In this pillow, merino wool is blended with natural latex pieces and forms the fibre component of the filling. We chose this combination to bring together the elasticity of latex and the material properties of wool, combining comfort and function in a new type of pillow. Wool’s temperature-regulating properties and ability to absorb moisture are rooted in the distinctive structure of the merino wool fibre. The wool therefore contributes properties that natural latex, with its comfortable support and yielding feel, does not provide to the same extent. These different contributions are central to our choice of this distinctive blend.

ADJUST THE FILLING TO SUIT YOUR PREFERENCES
Both the inner and outer covers have zips, allowing you to access the filling. If the pillow feels too high or too full, remove a little filling and distribute the rest evenly. Removing filling changes both the pillow’s fullness and the resistance you feel beneath your head. Make small adjustments and check how the pillow feels as you go. Keep the filling you remove so you can add some back if you would like more fullness later or once the filling has settled a little. You do not need to find your final adjustment on the first attempt. Being able to change the amount of filling gives you room to find what works for you.

ORGANIC COTTON IN TWO SEPARATE COVERS
The filling is held inside an inner cover made from organic cotton fabric. Around it sits a removable outer cover made from a heavier, unbleached and undyed organic cotton fabric. The two covers serve different purposes. The inner cover holds the natural latex and wool together and provides access for adjusting the filling. The outer cover protects the inner pillow from moisture and dirt during everyday use and can be unzipped and removed. You can wash the outer cover according to the product’s care instructions while leaving the filling inside the inner cover. The washing instructions for the outer cover do not apply to the whole pillow. Regular, thorough airing is also beneficial for a pillow.

WHICH NATURAL LATEX PILLOW SHOULD YOU CHOOSE?
This model combines loose natural latex filling with merino wool and allows you to adjust the amount of filling yourself. Our kapok model combines natural latex pieces with kapok fibres instead. Our natural latex pillow with kapok is for you who enjoy a full pillow with a supportive feel but prefer it not to feel too firm. The combination of small natural latex pieces and natural kapok creates a loose filling that you can gather and distribute around your head and neck. If you like to shape your pillow by hand or rearrange it when you turn over, this pillow gives you that freedom. You can also change the amount of filling, allowing you to adjust both its distribution and the overall fullness of the pillow.

IT’S WHAT’S INSIDE THAT COUNTS
At Cocoon Company, a good pillow starts with its materials. We care about where they come from, their properties and the difference they make in everyday use. In this pillow, we combine organic natural latex with kapok fibres, bringing two different filling materials together.

Organic natural latex with springy support
Natural latex is made from the milky sap of the rubber tree. The material can give under pressure and "springs" back towards its original shape when the pressure is removed. This elasticity gives natural latex its characteristic "springy" feel.
We use small pieces of organic natural latex in the filling blend. They provide gently supportive comfort beneath your head and play an important part in how supportive the pillow feels. While the amount of filling affects the pillow’s volume and feel, elasticity is a property of the latex material itself.

Kapok – lightweight fibres from the kapok tree
Kapok holds a special place at Cocoon Company and is a material we use across our bedding range. The fibres grow inside the kapok tree’s seed pods and have a hollow, air-filled structure that makes them lightweight. Their naturally waxy surface also makes them water-repellent. In this pillow, the fine kapok fibres sit between the natural latex pieces and contribute to the character of the loose filling blend. Kapok fibres settle slightly with use, which you can accommodate by adding filling when needed.

ADJUST THE FULLNESS – FROM THE START AND OVER TIME
The pillow comes generously filled, giving you room to adjust the amount of filling. If it feels too high or too full, you can open the inner cover and remove a little filling at a time. Redistribute the remaining filling, close the cover and try the pillow again on your own mattress in your usual sleeping positions.
Removing filling changes both the fullness and the way the pillow feels. Make small adjustments and keep the filling you remove so you can put some back if you wish.
As the kapok fibres settle, the pillow’s fullness will change slightly. This is an expected characteristic of this filling blend. If you would like more fullness at some point, you can add some of the filling you have kept or purchase extra loose filling from us. This allows you to continue adjusting the pillow to your preferences.

STRETCHY OUTER COVER WITH ORGANIC COTTON
The pillow has an inner cover that holds the filling together and a removable outer cover made from a stretchy fabric with organic cotton. The fabric can stretch around the pillow’s shape as you arrange the filling and rest your head.
The outer cover absorbs moisture and collects dirt from everyday use, helping to protect the inner cover and filling. It can be removed and washed regularly according to the care instructions. This separate construction allows you to keep the outer cover clean while the filling remains inside its own cover.

AN ALTERNATIVE TO A PILLOW WITH A SOLID CORE
If you are considering a memory foam pillow with a solid core, this model offers an alternative filled with natural latex and kapok. You can move the filling by hand and change the amount if you prefer a different level of fullness.
This also distinguishes it from a moulded contour pillow, where the neck contour is built into the core itself. Part of your choice therefore comes down to whether you prefer to shape and adjust loose filling yourself or would rather have a pre-shaped contour.

BREATHABLE NATURAL LATEX PILLOWS

Breathability in the materials you sleep on is key to a good night's sleep. And the materials in your pillow are no exception. We release a lot of heat through our heads, so heat and sweat must be able to escape from your pillow. Otherwise, you'll find yourself waking up at night with a wet pillow, which you'll repeatedly have to turn and flip to find a dry spot to sleep on.

Natural latex is unlike memory foam and synthetic latex a more temperature-regulating material. It stays cooler throughout the night and helps you maintain a stable body temperature, so you don't wake up on a damp pillow.

Our natural latex comes from organic rubber plantations, where liquid rubber is tapped from the trees. The rubber mass is poured into molds and baked at high temperatures. We add nothing else no synthetic latex or other fillers, and our natural latex is thus completely pure. Therefore, it was also important for us to have our product GOLS-certified. It is your guarantee for a pure natural latex product without synthetic additives that emit harmful fumes while you sleep.

Our natural latex pillows consist of many loose strips of the fantastic natural latex, mixed with organic wool, to achieve even better breathability and airiness in our natural latex pillows.

When our natural latex is so pure and untreated, it also means it is naturally resistant to bacteria, mold, mildew, dust mites, and other allergens. Therefore, a natural latex pillow from Cocoon Company is highly suitable for people with sensitive skin, allergies, and asthma. And of course, also for anyone else who wants to sleep on a natural, hypoallergenic pillow.

 

ERGONOMIC PILLOW

When choosing your new pillow, you should consider that it needs to support your head and neck for many hours while you sleep, so you don't lie in an awkward position and wake up with neck pain. A latex pillow is firmer than a pillow made of, for example, down or fiber. It provides more stable support for your head and neck when you sleep on it. The pillow yields where your body contours leave pressure against it. It molds precisely to your neck and shoulders but will return to its original shape when you lift your head from the pillow.

A pillow with our natural latex filling will therefore last for many years. It will not collapse and become flat in the filling, as many other pillows do over time. You are probably most familiar with the feel of this type of pillow from memory foam pillows. The difference is "just" that ours is 100% natural and does not contain the harmful chemicals found in memory foam.

 

PILLOW FOR NECK PAIN

If you often suffer from neck pain and headaches, it's important to choose a pillow that supports you correctly while you sleep. 

Our natural latex pillow is excellent for those with neck and shoulder pain. It supports you when you rest your head on it and adapts to your back and neck. Imagine that your pillow should ensure a straight line through your spine and neck when you sleep on your side. Your head should neither sink too low nor be so high that a kink occurs in your neck. Therefore, choose a high-quality pillow that helps your shoulders lie free of the pillow when you sleep on your side, creating support in the gap between your cheek and shoulder.

 

ADJUSTABLE PILLOW

All bodies are different, and we need different heights and firmness in our pillows to lie comfortably. That's why we've designed our natural latex pillows so cleverly that you can adjust the amount of filling in the pillow to precisely fit your body and preferred sleeping position. So whether you want a high and firm pillow or a flat and soft pillow, you can achieve this by choosing our organic natural latex pillows.

Inside the pillow, you'll find a thin cotton cover that holds the filling material. A zipper is sewn into the cover, so you can easily remove and add extra filling. We recommend that you save the filling you take out, in case you want a little extra fill in the pillow again. Experiment and feel how much filling is needed for you to lie optimally with the pillow. We have, of course, ensured to fill the pillow really well when you receive it, so there is something to adjust with.

Our natural latex pillows are suitable for all sleeping positions. You simply adjust the amount of filling to your preferred sleeping position, whether you sleep on your stomach, back, or side.

 

HOW TO WASH A NATURAL LATEX PILLOW?

Most pillows require a bit of care when you want to wash them. That's why we've made washing our natural latex pillows extra easy for you. The outer cover of the pillow can easily be removed and washed. You do not need to wash the inner pillow containing the filling material. We recommend that you occasionally take the inner pillow outside and shake it thoroughly. Hang it up and air it out for a few hours outdoors until the outer cover is dry again.

You can wash the outer cover of the pillow at 60 degrees, but we generally recommend washing at lower temperatures to protect the environment.
