The bed bumper measures 28x186cm* and is specially designed to fit a baby bed of 60x120 cm. It covers half of the bed's interior and is securely tied with strings around the bars. If you wish to create a complete enclosure all the way around, we recommend using two bed bumpers.

WHAT IS A BED BUMPER?

A bed bumper is a long pillow you use to line your child's bed along the edge, so the child sleeps against soft edges instead of the bed's bars or hard sides.

We are often asked if a bed bumper is necessary. And to that, we usually reply that, fundamentally, the only thing a newborn really needs is its parents to provide security, food, and love. But that's not the reality for most families. We buy equipment for our children like never before. We nest and create the physical framework that will now house a little child. And there is a lot of anticipation and preparation for the new life as parents associated with nesting.

There are many things that can be considered "nice-to-have." But in our world, a bed bumper is an absolute must-have with small children in the house. The bed bumper is the protective edge that surrounds your child when it sleeps. It ensures that your child doesn't hurt themselves on the bed's hard sides when moving in their sleep. And it creates a shielding surface against the big world and the many stimuli the child is exposed to.

WHY CHOOSE A KAPOK BED BUMPER?

The short answer to this question is because we believe small children deserve to sleep in chemical-free, clean environments. Also, because the production of kapok is far more environmentally friendly than the production of the polyester filling and foam mattresses we see in almost all other bed bumpers today. Even if the manufacturer claims it is an "organic bed bumper," it is usually only because the outer cover is organic. But not the filling material.

Kapok is a fantastic material we harvest from the tall kapok trees. The kapok we use grows wild in nature and not in plantations. Therefore, no pesticides, insecticides, or other harmful chemicals are used in the creation of the fibers. It is 100% pure, wild nature that we gently harvest and fill into our bed bumpers. No trees need to be cut down or harm done to nature for us to harvest our Cocoon kapok. Our production of kapok is thus part of a natural cycle, where we help preserve larger areas of untouched nature in India. At the same time, we support the local population through the income they receive from the kapok harvest.

We encourage farmers to plant kapok trees on areas where they can't grow anything else, thereby achieving a sustainable income year after year. Kapok trees require neither water, fertilizer, nor care and are therefore ideal for them to exploit as an extra income.

The fibers are also called "silk cotton" because they are so feather-light. In fact, the kapok fiber consists of 80% hollow space. Tiny air holes allow heat and sweat to pass through the fiber without accumulating and becoming damp. And this property is excellent in our sleeping environments. Here we need the heat and moisture naturally emitted by the body to be led away again.

And by choosing kapok as the filling in your child's bed bumper, you get, firstly, a thick and stable bed bumper. The thick bed bumper will make the bed or crib a bit smaller and more cave-like to create security for the child. But also a bed bumper that contains no harmful chemicals. Our kapok bed bumper is attached to the child's bed with ties. You place the bed bumper on the inside of the crib or cradle and use the strings to tie the bed bumper in place. This creates a safe and protective nook in the child's bed.

When the child is small and not moving much, you can choose to place only one of our bed bumpers at the head end of the crib. But as the child grows, they will also move more in their sleep. When that time comes, we recommend using 2 of our bed bumpers for the crib, so it reaches all the way around the inside of the bed.

If you want the bed bumper to go all the way around the inside of the Sebra bed, you need to buy 2 of our bed bumpers. Otherwise, you can choose to let our kapok bed bumper follow the headboard of the bed.

By choosing our kapok bed bumper for the Sebra bed, you achieve a longer lifespan for the product, and your child can take their safe and cozy bed bumper from the baby bed to the junior bed.

BED BUMPER FOR JUNIOR BED

We find that once our customers have enjoyed using our kapok bed bumper in their crib and crib, they want to continue the success when the child moves to a junior bed. Even though the child is now too big to sleep in the baby bed, they may still need some secure, protective edges along the sides of the junior bed.

That's why we have developed our lovely bed bumpers with kapok to also fit the junior bed. When you buy a bed bumper for a junior bed from Cocoon Company, it measures 210cm in length. This means that in a junior bed measuring 70x140cm, you can choose to place the bed bumper around the headboard. Or you can let it follow the side towards the wall and up along the head end. This way, the child in the junior bed gets both a cozy backrest in the bed when you sit and read bedtime stories, and also some protection against the bed's hard sides when sleeping.

BED BUMPER IN BEAUTIFUL COLORS

Our bed bumpers are available in 2 solid and neutral tones because we believe children need calm surroundings when they sleep. Therefore, we do not make bed bumpers with prints, as we have found that it can be distracting for the child and make it difficult to fall asleep when there are too many bright colors and patterns.

We have our white bed bumper, which we call SOFT BEIGE. It appears completely natural in the cotton's own light color. It is both unbleached and not dyed. Therefore, there may be small specks in the fabric from the cotton. It gives a natural and exclusive look to the bed bumper.

The other beautiful bed bumper we make is called DUSTED BROWN. It is a delicate, light brown tone. The same organic fabric as the light bed bumper, but dyed with natural color to this fine brown that just matches everything.

HOW LONG DO YOU USE A BED BUMPER?

There are no rules or official recommendations for how long you can or should use a bed bumper for your child. You can use it from when the child is newborn and as long as your child finds peace and security sleeping with the bed bumper in the bed.

For many children, the bed bumper creates the shielding, secure frame they may need to settle down after a long day with many impressions.

BED BUMPER AND SAFETY

You can safely use our kapok bed bumpers for your child. The bed bumper is tied to the bed edge with the sewn-on ties. If the bed bumper comes loose during the night, the child can sleep on top of the bumper, and nothing will happen. Nor if the bed bumper lies over the child. It is easy for the child to kick and push around if it comes loose.

There are no official safety recommendations regarding the use of bed bumpers, as according to the Health Authority, there is no assessed health or safety risk. The only recommendation for you parents is, broadly speaking, that there are not too many loose objects in the child's bed. Therefore, you should occasionally ensure that the bed bumper is tied securely so that it sits optimally.
