Wool Baby Summer Duvet 70x100

Cocoon Merino Wool

WDS-070100

Summer is a wonderful season, but for both young and old, the warm summer nights can lead to restless sleep. Do you find that your child's all-year duvet is too warm? Then it will definitely be beneficial for you to replace your child's all-year duvet with a cool baby summer duvet.

Temperature-regulating

Merino wool is naturally breathable and is actually one of the most breathable materials available. Merino wool is an active fiber that reacts to changes in body temperature. In warm environments, wool feels up to twice as cool against the skin as synthetic materials. When the body gets warm, the wool dissipates the heat by absorbing moisture from the body and allowing it to evaporate through its fibers. Merino wool can absorb up to 35% moisture of its own weight without feeling wet or losing its temperature-regulating properties. This is particularly beneficial during warm summer nights when the body releases moisture to maintain its core temperature.

Moisture-wicking

When the body gets warm, the merino wool dissipates the heat by absorbing moisture from the body and allowing it to evaporate through its fibers. Merino wool can absorb up to 35% moisture of its own weight without feeling wet or losing its temperature-regulating properties. This is particularly beneficial during warm summer nights when the body releases moisture to maintain its core temperature.

100% Organic

We use neither chemicals nor synthetically manufactured materials to produce your baby summer duvet with merino wool. The baby summer duvet has a cover of 100% organically certified cotton. We use long wool fibers, which are carded to create a light and airy baby summer duvet. We use only 100% natural and untreated merino wool, which is beneficial for both the environment and you, as you get the best and most natural baby summer duvet.

Antibacterial

We use 100% natural and untreated merino wool in our baby summer duvet. This means that we have not washed out the natural lanolin content from the wool. The natural lanolin content helps create an antibacterial environment in the merino wool, which dust mites, bacteria, and fungi cannot live in.

Baby Summer Duvet with Down or Merino Wool?

Several studies show that both children and adults sleep better with merino wool, amazing right?! Research shows that newborns sleep more peacefully in merino wool and are less likely to wake up and cry during the night. But adults also benefit greatly from sleeping with merino wool. Merino wool has significantly better temperature-regulating properties than other materials like down, which is often used for summer duvets. When choosing a good summer duvet, it is important to choose a duvet that is more regulating rather than insulating. As previously described, merino wool is one of the most breathable fibers available and is fantastic at adapting to your child's body temperature. When you choose a summer duvet with merino wool instead of a traditional summer duvet with feathers or down, you will find that the summer duvet with merino wool is much better at adapting to your child's core temperature than the down duvet. This is because a down duvet is more insulating rather than regulating. When you get warm under the duvet, you will find that your down duvet becomes damp. A feather or down duvet quickly becomes damp when you sweat, as feathers and down absorb the moisture. You will not experience this with a summer duvet with merino wool. Merino wool can absorb 35% moisture of its own weight without feeling damp. If you ask us, merino wool is an underrated and overlooked filling in duvets - especially summer duvets. Still in doubt? Do not hesitate to contact customer service for further guidance.

Cocoon Merino Wool

WDU-080100/L

We believe it's important for children to have the best conditions for achieving a comfortable and uninterrupted night's sleep. A Cocoon wool duvet is a cool, breathable, and temperature-regulating all-season duvet that can help create the right environment for your child. The lightness of merino wool allows the duvet to regulate the warmth around the body and transport excess moisture and heat away, ensuring a temperate and dry night's sleep for your child. This is especially important for infants, as young children can struggle to regulate their body temperature. This can lead to overheating and sweating. Therefore, it's incredibly important that the baby duvet is good enough to help the child regulate heat and moisture.

Our wool baby duvet is filled with 100% untreated merino wool and covered with a shell of certified organic cotton.
What makes our Cocoon merino wool baby duvet special:

  • Temperature-regulating & moisture-wicking
  • 100% organic and chemical-free materials
  • Naturally hypoallergenic & dust mite-free
  • Unique carding

Which thickness should I choose?

A good rule of thumb is:

  • If the wool duvet is primarily used in the warmer half of the year, or only indoors, the light version is a good choice.
  • If the wool duvet is also to be used in colder months, and you generally seek an all-season duvet, the medium (standard) version is a good choice.
  • If the wool duvet is primarily used in the cold months, and only outdoors, the heavy version is a good choice.

Why choose a wool duvet?

Most people can relate to the experience of a feather or down duvet becoming very warm during the night. You get so warm that you need to lift the duvet a bit during the night to cool down. This is because feathers and down are both excellent insulators. The good insulation provides a lovely feeling during the cold months when we want to retain as much warmth as possible. It's really nice until the duvet and mattress have warmed up to body temperature. After that, the body needs to get rid of the excess heat and moisture. This is where feathers and down often fall short.

Many people believe that wool is just a warm fiber, only suitable for winter. However, the truth is that wool possesses unmatched properties for regulating temperature and moisture, making it suitable for both cold and warm weather. Wool uses your body temperature to generate warmth, and when it gets too warm, the wool absorbs the moisture around the body and cools it down. The secret behind the wool fiber's incredible breathability is the lanolin-rich surface, which allows the fiber to absorb large amounts of moisture. Merino wool can absorb 35% of its own weight in water and moisture without feeling wet, keeping your body dry and warm. It's also the lanolin content in merino wool that ensures your duvet doesn't smell of sweat and creates an antibacterial environment that dust mites cannot live in. However, it's only in untreated wool that the lanolin is retained, so there will be a significant difference between a duvet with untreated wool and a regular wool duvet.

Merino wool is distinguished by having slightly twisted fibers, making it perfect for carding into a fluffy soft 'cloud' of wool fibers. This makes the sleep products wonderfully soft and pliable, undoubtedly benefiting any sleep. To ensure the most breathable and temperature-regulating sleep product possible, we only use merino wool fibers over 8 cm. The longer fibers create a lighter and airier fill, making the duvet feel light, breathable, and incredibly temperature-neutral.

From the Spanish mountains to your home

The Merino sheep is the world's most numerous sheep breed, originally from Spain, but now widespread worldwide. For our Cocoon merino wool products, we only use wool from Merino sheep that roam the mountains daily. These sheep produce longer wool due to the colder mountain air. Since we only use wool fibers over 8 cm, our wool duvets feel lighter and more airy, while also being more breathable and better at regulating temperature.

When selecting our merino wool, it's crucial that the production of the merino wool is done with the animals' welfare in mind. We have a strict policy of only using wool from sheep that are free-range, sheared in a fair and proper manner, and not subjected to mulesing. Therefore, we exclusively use Spanish merino wool, where mulesing is not practiced.

A good night's sleep is essential for our health, as most people know. Therefore, we believe it's important to give yourself the best conditions for achieving a perfect night's sleep. A kapok duvet will be perfect for you if you want a cool, breathable, and temperature-regulating year-round duvet. Our kapok duvet is filled with 100% untreated and organic kapok and covered with a fabric of certified organic cotton. No chemicals or synthetic materials are used during the cultivation or production of our kapok duvet.

Why choose a kapok summer duvet?

Most people can relate to the experience of a feather or down duvet becoming very warm during the night. You get so warm that you need to lift the duvet a bit during the night to cool down. This is because feathers and down are both fantastic at insulating. The good insulation provides a lovely feeling during the cold months when we want to retain as much warmth as possible. It's really nice until the duvet and mattress have warmed up to body temperature. After that, the body needs to get rid of the excess heat and moisture. This is where feathers and down often fall short. A kapok duvet is fantastic at regulating heat around the body due to the lightness and structure of the kapok fiber, which allows heat and moisture to be transported away from the body. A kapok duvet is therefore especially suitable for those who tend to get too warm at night.

Kapok is a natural fiber that grows on the kapok tree Cebia pentandra in the tropical rainforests of southern and central America, India, and the western part of Africa. You can partially compare kapok to cotton, but kapok differs by being much airier than cotton. The kapok fiber contains 80% air and is thus 8 times lighter than cotton, making it the world's lightest natural fiber. The high air content in the kapok fiber is what makes it incredibly temperature-regulating and breathable.

When you sleep with a kapok duvet, you will experience that the duvet adapts to your body temperature. A kapok duvet is therefore one of the best things to sleep with if you have problems with night sweats or simply find a regular down duvet too warm and insulating. A kapok duvet also stands out by being water-repellent. Kapok contains a natural layer of wax around each silky soft fiber. This means that the kapok duvet will not absorb the moisture and sweat that the body releases during the night. Instead, the moisture is transported away from the body through the fiber's many airy cavities. You will therefore find that a kapok duvet remains wonderfully dry throughout the night.

What is a summer duvet?

A summer duvet is for those who want a light and airy duvet for the warm months of the year. For those who love the feeling of sleeping with a duvet but often resort to only using a duvet cover in the summer because it's simply too warm with the duvet. But when we only sleep with a duvet cover over us, something is missing from the sleep. The comfort and the cherished feeling of rest when we snuggle under the duvet after a long day are missing.

That exact feeling is what our summer duvets can give you. We have developed a series of light and airy summer duvets for both children and adults, in lovely natural materials. And which summer duvet is best, we leave up to you to decide. What they all have in common is that they are cool and allow your body to breathe and release heat and sweat while you sleep.

Summer duvets in wool

Our wool summer duvets are one of the products that over the years have helped many of our customers achieve better sleep. Wool is simply outstanding to sleep with for those who get warm in the summer but don't like sleeping without a duvet.

The wool acts as your duvet's own air conditioning. We use 100% untreated merino wool to retain as many of the wool's beneficial properties in the duvet as possible. The wool comes from sheep that have lived in the mountains. This creates unique, long wool fibers because the wool has had to keep the sheep warm and dry, even in extreme temperatures.

At the same time, wool also contains the natural fat lanolin, which helps make the duvet hypoallergenic because dust mites do not thrive in environments with lanolin. It also acts as a water repellent, so the duvet does not absorb moisture from your body but instead allows it to evaporate. And last but not least, wool is naturally flame retardant and self-extinguishing due to the fiber's high nitrogen content. Therefore, we never treat our products with synthetic flame retardants known to contain many harmful chemicals. You can read more about chemicals in your sleep environment and how they can affect you in our guide to mattress and mattress topper

Summer duvets in kapok

By choosing our kapok summer duvet, you get an extremely airy and breathable duvet. The duvet consists of precisely the same lovely materials as our all-season kapok duvet, just with half the filling. This provides a lighter and even cooler duvet for those who sweat at night during the summer months.

With our kapok summer duvet, you can invite nature into your bedroom. The duvet is 100% pure nature, organic, and free from harmful chemicals. Experience for yourself how the properties of our natural materials can improve your sleep. The kapok we use at Cocoon is handpicked especially for us. The fine natural fibers help your body maintain a stable temperature throughout the night, so you don't overheat and start sweating. At the same time, the fiber is also water-repellent and consists of many small cavities that wick away the sweat you naturally release during the night. This way, you will always find that your bed and duvet stay dry, and your sleep is not interrupted by night sweats.

We recommend our kapok summer duvets to everyone, as they are both vegan, 100% natural, and hypoallergenic. Kapok contains a natural bitter substance where dust mites, mold, and bacteria do not thrive.

What does it mean for a duvet to be cool?

When we say our summer duvet is cool, it means it is airy, cool, and breathable. It creates the best conditions for your sleep during the warm summer nights. Our summer duvets regulate your body heat extremely well, so your sleep is not disturbed by night sweats and an overly warm duvet. A cool duvet gives you air and allows your body to breathe and release excess heat.

Summer duvet for children

If you have a warm child who sweats at night during the summer months, it can be disruptive to the whole family's sleep. The child wakes up drenched in sweat, requiring a change of clothes and bedding in the middle of the night. This creates unrest, and it can be difficult to settle down again for both children and adults.

Therefore, it is a really good idea to invest in a breathable summer duvet for your child. We have summer duvets for both prams, babies, and juniors. A summer duvet for your child is thinner than the child's regular duvet, providing more air around the child, while our materials are extremely breathable and temperature-regulating.

Many children find comfort and peace in having a duvet over them when they sleep, and therefore it often doesn't work to just cover the child with a duvet cover. Something is missing in the feeling of being "tucked in." With our organic summer duvets for children, your child can sleep safely and comfortably in the summer heat without waking up drenched in sweat.
