Here you will find our fantastic selection of baby nests for newborns and small children. All our baby nests are 100% natural and chemical-free from the inside out. You will find the Cocoon Company baby nest with 2 different filling materials, namely organic kapok baby nest and our Amazing Maize baby nest.
Kapok is one of nature's miracle materials. It is a 100% untreated plant fiber, with extremely high breathability and temperature-regulating properties. The fiber consists of a multitude of small cavities that allow heat and moisture to be drawn away from your child's body when sleeping in the baby nest.
Our cornfiber is a super soft and light fiber, created from the residual material from corn production. The cornfiber is 100% recyclable. No synthetic additives, plastics, or oil-based chemicals are used. Unfortunately, it is all too often seen in baby nests with polyester filling that no attention is paid to the chemical content of the materials filled into the baby nest.
By choosing a baby nest from Cocoon Company, you get a clean and natural base for your child's sleep. It is produced with respect for both the environment and people. And last but not least, it is safe and secure for your child to sleep in.
You can read much more about our organic baby nest further down the page.
Our baby nest is, as the name suggests, a nest your newborn can sleep in. It is the secure base you place your child in during the day when you may need to have your hands free. The sides of the baby nest give the child a sense of being hugged and simultaneously create a protective edge so the child does not roll over. Small babies can feel that the world is very big. They need to feel where they themselves end, and it provides comfort like being in mom and dad's arms.
The Cocoon baby nest consists of a quilted mattress that provides your child with an ergonomic surface to lie on, while the quilted layer insulates against cold from below. Around the mattress, there is a raised edge, creating the cozy nest for the child to lie in. Both the mattress and the soft edges in our Cocoon baby nest are filled with our chemical-free natural fibers.
Which baby nest is best, we leave up to you to decide based on your personal preferences. At Cocoon Company, we will always recommend that you opt for a chemical-free baby nest in organic and natural materials.
You can use the baby nest in almost any situation with your newborn. It can, for example, lie on the kitchen counter next to you when you prepare dinner and need to have your hands free but still want the baby close to you. You can also place our baby nest in a crib or in the baby bed to create a closer frame around the little one, where a baby bed can still feel a bit large.
The baby nest provides comfort for your child when it needs to sleep. You can also place our baby nest under a play gym and let your baby lie softly and securely while exploring the exciting toys you have hung up.
Whether a baby nest is necessary or not is, of course, an individual decision. It is a piece of baby equipment that has truly won a place in the hearts of families with children worldwide over the past 10 years. And it is not without reason, as it is a tool in your daily life with a baby in the house that offers many different uses. At the same time, the little nest creates an incredible amount of coziness and comfort for your child.
We recommend that you always supervise your child in the baby nest.
You can use a baby nest from birth up to about 6 months of age when the child begins to turn over. Be aware if the child can move over the sides of the baby nest if it is placed somewhere the child can fall from. If it is placed in a crib or on a blanket on the floor, not much will happen. But the child is too big to sleep in the baby nest when it can roll around on its own. Then it should instead be used for play and tumble time with mom and dad.
There are divided opinions on whether a newborn may sleep in a baby nest at night. We have developed our baby nest according to all the rules of the art and with high safety in mind. There are no official recommendations in this area, but the Health Authority recommends that children sleep on their backs on a relatively firm mattress. Therefore, it is important that the baby nest is not so soft that it collapses completely around your child and creates a gap between the mattress and the edge where the child can turn its head down and get stuck. We have, of course, ensured this in our baby nests.
As soon as the child begins to roll and move around on its own, it should no longer nap in the baby nest. Now you can use the nest for play, coziness, and tumble time on the floor.
We recommend that you keep an eye on your child when using the baby nest. Therefore, use the baby nest when you are with your child and for the small naps during the day when you are nearby. At night, it is not recommended to use a baby nest. It can become too tight and too warm for the child. Small children should sleep at night in a baby bed, crib, bedside crib, and the like.
Our cozy Cocoon baby nests are available in nature's own colors. We have the neutral soft beige baby nest, which is the natural, unbleached color from the cotton. And then we have a dusted brown baby nest, which is a muted gray/brown baby nest that matches Scandinavian home decor very well.
Our baby nests cannot be washed in the washing machine as it can be difficult to get the filling in the edge to dry completely. Instead, we recommend that you purchase one of our soft covers for the baby nest.
The cover functions as a fitted sheet that you pull around the baby nest to protect the nest's fabric from accidents from the child. The covers are of a lovely quality of organic cotton that can withstand many washes and will become your best friend in everyday life with a baby in the house.
