WHAT IS A KAPOK MATTRESS?

Kapok is a loose natural fiber that comes from the seed capsule of tall kapok trees. The unique aspect of the kapok we use as filling in our mattresses is that it is 100% organic and untreated. We select our kapok from wild-growing trees, not plantations. Trees in the wild have not been exposed to pesticides, fertilizers, or sprays. It also provides a way for the local population to gain an extra source of income, as they can harvest kapok from the trees year after year without disturbing the tree or biodiversity. Kapok trees can grow in places where farmers cannot grow anything else, as they require neither water nor fertilizer.

Our natural kapok is thus a 100% pure plant fiber, with a structure consisting of 80% small cavities. Around the kapok fiber is a thin layer of water-repellent wax, which, together with the cavities, makes the fiber incredibly breathable and helps transport moisture and heat away from your body while you sleep. Additionally, kapok is a naturally hypoallergenic product because the fiber contains a natural bitter substance in which mold, dust mites, and other allergens do not thrive. This makes kapok products a sensible choice for those with asthma and allergies and those who wish to prevent them.

WHY CHOOSE A KAPOK MATTRESS FROM COCOON COMPANY?

When you choose a kapok mattress from Cocoon Company, you get a kapok mattress beyond the ordinary. Not only do we have Europe's largest selection of kapok mattresses, but we also offer the purest product in extraordinary quality. Each mattress is handmade, meaning the hand-stuffed and hand-sewn details may vary slightly from mattress to mattress. This adds a unique touch to each product.

Often, we see other manufacturers of mattresses with natural fillings using polyester covers or other artificial materials. Unfortunately, this ruins the entire experience of sleeping on a chemical-free and breathable mattress. At Cocoon Company, we do not do this. Around our unique kapok fibers, you will find another fantastic natural material, namely our fabric made from organic certified cotton. We never compromise on quality and purity in our products, and therefore our lovely natural filling is, of course, covered with a beautiful outer fabric that is just as chemical-free and pure as the mattress's interior.

In short, you should choose our organic kapok mattresses when you want a comfortable and tailored sleep experience on a chemical-free, breathable, and hypoallergenic mattress.

ORGANIC KAPOK MATTRESSES IN ALL SIZES

The need for mattress size changes throughout life, and preferences for what one sleeps best on will also change. Therefore, we have put together an extensive range of kapok mattresses that cater to all ages and needs. From the smallest children in prams and cribs to adults and couples who want to sleep together.

Our mattresses are known for their ability to regulate heat and transport moisture, making them ideal for people who often feel hot at night. A kapok mattress ensures that your bed remains dry and comfortable, which is crucial for a good night's sleep. It is important to choose a mattress that suits your body and personal preferences.

Our kapok mattresses are naturally firm, but for those who prefer a softer surface, a mattress topper or mattress pad can add that extra layer of softness and comfort.

KAPOK MATTRESSES FOR PRAMS

For the smallest in the family, we offer our kapok pram mattresses in sizes for the most common carrycots, combi prams, and prams on the market. We have a standard size pram mattress of 37x96 cm, tailored to fit most prams. You will also find special mattresses that fit Emmaljunga prams, which are carefully designed to ensure a precise fit for your pram.

Our carrycot mattresses and mattresses for combi prams and prams are designed to provide your child with optimal comfort and support when sleeping during your outings.

All our mattresses for children are firm and comply with the safety recommendations in the area. Small children who cannot turn themselves must not sleep on too soft mattresses, as they will not be able to turn away from a potential suffocation risk.

KAPOK MATTRESSES FOR BABY AND JUNIOR

Children spend up to half of the day's hours in their bed, and it is therefore crucial that they are not exposed to unnecessarily large amounts of chemicals through the products we put them to sleep in. Our mattresses for children are developed with a strong focus on creating a safe and comfortable sleeping environment for your child.

You will find our popular kapok mattresses in many different sizes for both cribs, baby, and junior beds. Particularly popular is our kapok mattress 60x120 cm for baby beds and our kapok junior mattress in 70x140 cm and kapok mattress in 70x160 cm.

Many parents also consider choosing an hypoallergenic duvet and pillow for their child. But the mattress is just as important, as a lot of harmful chemicals can be hidden in foam, polyester, and memory foam mattresses. So it is not insignificant to choose a natural and hypoallergenic mattress for children.

At Cocoon Company, we believe that all children deserve the best start in life. Therefore, with our kapok, we have created a series of chemical-free and hypoallergenic mattresses for babies and juniors. When it comes to our children's health and well-being, few are willing to compromise. But we also find that many do not know what is really hidden in the many synthetic mattresses available for children today. We have created a small guide to choosing a chemical-free mattress and mattress topper if you want to know more about the chemical cocktail that can be hidden in your child's mattress.

ORGANIC KAPOK MATTRESSES FOR ADULTS

For adults, our range extends from mattresses for single beds in sizes such as mattress 70x200 cm., mattress 80x200 cm. and mattress 90x200 cm. to larger mattresses for double beds in sizes such as mattress 140x200 cm., mattress 160x200 cm. and mattress 180x200 cm. Whether you are looking for a mattress for a single bed or a double bed, all our organic kapok mattresses for adults are carefully selected to ensure the highest quality, natural comfort, and allergy-friendliness.

HOW TO TAKE GOOD CARE OF YOUR KAPOK MATTRESS

When maintaining your kapok mattress, the most important thing you can do is air it regularly. This is easiest done by regularly standing the mattress on its side so that the bottom of the mattress gets some air. This is especially important if you use a bed with a solid base, as the solid base does not allow the kapok to breathe. So even though kapok naturally transports moisture and heat away, the moisture can be absorbed into the solid base, which in the worst case can lead to the wood being damaged and mold forming.

Since a kapok mattress is hand-stuffed with loose natural fiber, it is important that you occasionally stand the mattress on its side and massage/press the fiber from the edge towards the center. Especially where the mattress is most stressed during use. If this is not done, the mattress can develop a depression where the kapok fibers are most compressed by your body weight. Regular maintenance ensures that your kapok mattress retains its shape and comfort. Read our full guide to washing and caring for kapok products.

If a stain appears on the mattress, you can spot clean the surface with a hard-wrung cloth. In case of accidents in bed, we recommend that you purchase our breathable mattress protector.
