When it comes to your baby’s first duvet there is a lot to consider. At Cocoon Company we have for years been dedicated to developing sleep products that prioritise comfort safety and quality. A kapok baby duvet from us is far from ordinary, it is crafted in our very own quality with 100% pure and natural materials setting it apart significantly from other products on the market.
The kapok fibres in our baby duvets are hand‑filled and sourced from wild kapok trees. They are exceptionally breathable and effectively remove heat and moisture from the body. This makes the duvet suitable for both summer and winter creating a secure and stable sleeping environment for your baby. And since babies are not yet able to regulate their own temperature it is critical to have a duvet that can support them in that way.
A good baby duvet must first and foremost be free from harmful chemicals breathable and able to regulate temperature. It is also important that the duvet is light and does not attract dust mites or bacteria.
Based on these criteria we believe that a kapok duvet is the best choice for babies. Our kapok baby duvets are vegan 100% chemical‑free and filled with untreated and organic kapok fibres which contain a natural bitter substance that prevents dust mites from surviving in the material. This makes them particularly suitable for children with sensitive skin or a tendency to allergies. Unlike many other baby duvets our kapok duvets are free from synthetic fillers and surface treatments so you can feel completely confident about the sleeping environment you provide your child.
An allergy‑friendly duvet is one filled with the right materials such as kapok or wool fibres that are naturally resistant to dust mites. These materials make it difficult for mites to live and breed in the duvet and thus reduce the risk of allergic reactions. An allergy‑friendly duvet should also be free from synthetic fillers and chemicals which can irritate skin or respiratory systems.
The classic size
Most babies sleep with a duvet measuring 70x100 cm which is also the standard we use at Cocoon Company. You can read much more about the kapok baby duvet 70x100 here where we guide you through and show you how to care for your kapok duvet.
We always recommend having two baby duvets. One can be used in the baby’s crib at home and the other can accompany the child outdoors in the pram on trips or during naps in daycare. It is also practical in case of accidents or laundry so your baby always has a dry and clean duvet ready.
Many parents experience that our kapok duvets feel different from the ones they are used to. This is because kapok wraps more snugly around the body and feels a little firmer initially. But our experience shows that the duvet shapes to the body over time becoming softer and more pliable. What is special about Cocoon Company’s kapok duvets is that we fill them with a greater quantity of kapok fibres than many others and that makes all the difference. You get a duvet that holds its shape adapts and becomes better with time. And that can be washed if necessary. At the same time we do not mix our kapok products with synthetic or chemically treated materials such as Tencel, polyester or bamboo.
We also add extra kapok to our duvets so they retain their shape and comfort for a long time. We suggest that you sleep with the baby duvet yourself for a few nights before birth—it makes the duvet softer and more personal while giving the baby security from the scent of mum or dad.
A kapok baby duvet requires minimal maintenance. You do not need to wash it before use as it is already free from chemicals and excess dye. The best thing you can do is air the duvet regularly outside.
