The PAPILIO mattress is made exclusively with 4 natural and organic materials and is not treated with or added any chemicals, either during or after production. You can therefore rest assured knowing that the mattress does not emit any off-gassing substances or chemicals during your sleep.

Organic Coconut Fiber with Natural Latex

One of the key ingredients in our PAPILIO mattress is the organic coconut fiber, which is used to add firmness to the mattress core. The coconut fibers are extracted through coconut production, washed and softened, then the fibers are bound together into ropes, transforming them into small springs. The coconut fibers are then bound together with natural latex, forming springy core components that provide a firm and supportive base in the mattress. As the coconut fiber layer is composed of large fibers, the base contains numerous air channels, giving the mattress base incredibly high breathability. The high breathability allows the body to release excess heat and moisture during a period when it struggles to self-regulate its body temperature.

GOLS Certified 100% Natural Latex

The second key ingredient in the PAPILIO mattress is the 100% organic natural latex, used to create pressure relief in the mattress. Natural latex is known for its soft and comfortable body support as well as superior breathability. 100% natural latex is also naturally resistant to bacteria, mold, mildew, dust mites, and other allergens, and is naturally hypoallergenic. However, natural latex is not just natural latex. Often, natural latex is mixed with synthetic latex or fillers to create a cheaper mattress. Therefore, it has been incredibly important for us to create a natural latex that is certified organic. Our natural latex is therefore GOLS certified, ensuring that the natural latex is free from artificial and harmful additives, and that the natural latex comes from organic latex plantations where it has been cultivated without the use of artificial fertilizers or pesticides. Thus, you can be sure that the latex core is made of 100% natural rubber and does not contain synthetic latex, chemicals, or fillers.

Organic & Untreated New Zealand Wool

The cover around the mattress core is quilted with a layer of luxurious organic and untreated wool from New Zealand. The wool gives the mattress fantastic temperature-regulating properties, as the wool's air-filled fibers form a natural insulation under the body. The lanolin in the wool also helps to transfer excess heat and moisture through the fiber and away from the body. The natural occurrence of lanolin also makes the wool resistant to dust mites and contributes to the mattress's hypoallergenic properties. The organic wool is also naturally flame retardant, so the mattress does not need to be added or treated with harmful flame retardants.

GOTS Certified Organic and Untreated Cotton

The cover is quilted with an unbleached and undyed organic cotton fabric. The cover cannot be removed but can be easily spot cleaned with a well-wrung cloth. Therefore, if you want to take extra care of the mattress in case of accidents, we recommend adding a breathable mattress protector.
