It is indeed at night that we release the largest amount of growth hormone, which makes our bones and muscles grow.

Infants do not sleep on a pillow, but around the age of 1, they can start using a baby pillow in bed. The transition from not sleeping with a pillow at all to using a junior pillow is too big. Therefore, we have created a really nice series of small baby pillows in exactly the same lovely materials and qualities as for the parents, just in a mini version. Many children find it really cozy to have a pillow in bed. It provides a slightly softer place for your toddler to rest their head, and for many small children, the pillow will initially function partly as a head pillow but also as a comfort blanket and cuddly toy. The baby pillow becomes a safe and familiar friend for your child to come down to at night.

WHEN SHOULD MY BABY HAVE A PILLOW?

In accordance with the Health Authority, we recommend that you give your baby a pillow no earlier than at one year of age.

The corn fiber has a long and hollow fiber structure, similar to a wool fiber, which gives the corn fiber its unique temperature-regulating properties. The corn fiber is also water-repellent and ensures that excess heat and moisture are led through the pillow instead of being absorbed. The pillow will therefore remain dry and comfortable throughout the night.

Our corn fiber is the first man-made fiber made from a 100% recyclable resource. The corn fiber is made from lactic acid, which is extracted from the plant sugar in the corn plant's starch during its fermentation process. Therefore, the corn fiber contains only naturally biodegradable and recyclable raw materials, which can either be recycled or broken down into organic material. The corn fiber is our green response to today's synthetic and oil-based plastic fibers, which cannot be naturally degraded and are not recycled enough, thus burdening the planet. The production of the corn fiber requires almost 70% fewer fossil fuels in production than regular synthetic fibers and is therefore considered the first greenhouse-neutral fiber ever created.

ALLERGY-FRIENDLY BABY PILLOWS

All the materials you find in our baby pillows are hypoallergenic. We are seeing an increase in children and young people today developing allergies, eczema, and asthma. A large part of the reason is that we are exposed to far more synthetically manufactured products today than before. And our sleeping environments are no exception. Mattresses, mattress toppers, duvets, pillows, and bedding are packed with artificial materials and dyes, which very often release residual chemicals to the sleeping child. Harmful chemicals that should not belong in a child's bed.

Children sleep up to half of the day in their bed, and it is therefore very important that you are aware of choosing chemical-free and hypoallergenic accessories for your child's bed. Here on the page, you will find all our small baby pillows, which are made from pure natural materials.

ORGANIC BABY PILLOWS

We make 2 different baby pillows, which are 100% organic. These are our kapok and our wool baby pillows.

The kapok baby pillow consists of pure, untreated kapok fibers that we harvest from the tall kapok trees in southern India. Our kapok comes from wild-growing trees, and therefore no pesticides or other harmful sprays are used for our kapok.

Our wool baby pillows are filled with the finest merino wool fibers from organic, free-range mountain sheep. The fact that the sheep have roamed the mountains means that they develop a particularly long wool, so they can keep warm and dry even in extreme weather conditions. And it is precisely these properties that make wool so fantastic for your baby to sleep with all year round. Wool regulates temperature extremely well, and due to the surrounding lanolin, the pillow is fantastic at wicking sweat away from the child's head and face, so the child does not wake up at night with a wet pillow.

The outer cover of our organic baby pillows consists of an organic, certified cotton fabric.

WHEN CAN CHILDREN USE A PILLOW?

This is a question we are often asked, and we can understand why. The smallest pillow is called a "baby pillow," but small newborn babies should not actually sleep on a pillow. According to the Health Authority, newborns should instead be placed to sleep on their back on a firm mattress suitable for newborns to prevent sudden infant death syndrome.

The recommendation is that your child can start sleeping with a pillow around the age of 1. If the child is very small or a bit late in their motor development, you should wait a little longer before giving the child a pillow. It is important that the child is mobile enough to move their head even when lying on a pillow. If you are in doubt about whether your child is ready for a baby pillow, you can ask your health visitor for advice.

CAN A BABY PILLOW PREVENT A FLAT HEAD?

By using a flat baby pillow, you can prevent your child from developing a flat head. Just remember that for safety reasons, the child should only use a baby pillow from around the age of 1. When the child lies on a pillow, the weight from the head will distribute differently and not leave as much pressure in one place.

The most important thing you can do to prevent a skewed or flat head is to ensure that your child primarily lies on their stomach during waking hours. Also, make sure to regularly switch between the arm the child lies on when being carried. This automatically makes the child remember to turn their head to both sides and not develop a "favorite" side where the head is always turned.

Breathability: When you choose a baby pillow in breathable materials, you give your child the best conditions for a calm and relaxed night's sleep. Many small children sweat at night, and therefore it is important that sweat and heat can escape from the materials the child sleeps with. Both down, feathers, and synthetic polyester materials tend to insulate too strongly and will leave the baby pillow wet with sweat. This disrupts the child's sleep and creates unnecessary awakenings for the whole family.

Comfort: Your child's pillow should be comfortable for the child to lie on. A baby pillow should be flat because it should fit the small child's body. The pillow supports the child's neck and creates a comfortable place to fall asleep.
