The baby nest consists of an outer cover in certified organic cotton, in a strong, durable quality. The filling in the baby nest consists of 100% untreated kapok. This creates a firm and full baby nest that maintains its shape. We use kapok both in the edges of the baby nest and in the quilted mattress the child sleeps on, which ensures insulation against cold from below, so the baby nest can also be used on the floor or under a play gym.

Kapok is one of nature's miracle materials. It is extremely breathable and temperature-regulating for the child to sleep on. At the same time, the baby nest is hypoallergenic because kapok contains a natural bitter substance where dust mites do not thrive. Newborns cannot regulate their body temperature themselves and need help from their surroundings for this. Therefore, in our view, it is essential that small children do not sleep in baby nests with thin foam mattresses and edges of polyester filling, which the body cannot breathe in.

We recommend that you use our baby nest cover to protect the nest from dirt and minor accidents. Covers are available in the colors Flamingo Pink and Wallaby Brown.

ORGANIC COCONUT FIBER WITH NATURAL LATEX

One of the key ingredients in our PAPILIO mattress is the organic coconut fiber used in the mattress core. The coconut fibers are extracted through coconut production, washed, and softened, after which the fibers are bound together into ropes that transform the fibers into small springs. The coconut fibers are then bound together with natural latex and formed into springy core components that provide a firm and supportive base in the mattress. As the coconut fiber layer is composed of large fibers, the base contains many continuous air channels, giving the mattress base incredibly high breathability. The high breathability allows the child to release excess heat and moisture during a period when it has difficulty self-regulating its body temperature.

The firm base and high breathability make the coconut base perfect for the child's very first days in this world, where sleep is such an important part of the child's life. Health authorities, doctors, and sleep experts recommend a firm base with high breathability for the child's early days, as the child's body is not fully developed and cannot turn away from suffocation hazards. Therefore, we recommend that the side closest to the coconut core is used in the child's early days until the child is big enough to turn itself.

ORGANIC & UNTREATED NEW ZEALAND WOOL

The cover around the mattress core is quilted with a layer of luxurious organic and untreated wool from New Zealand. The wool gives the mattress fantastic temperature-regulating properties, as the wool's air-filled fibers form natural insulation under the child. The lanolin in the wool simultaneously ensures that excess heat and moisture are carried through the fiber and away from the child. The natural occurrence of lanolin also makes the wool resistant to dust mites and contributes to the mattress's hypoallergenic properties. The organic wool is also naturally flame-retardant, so the mattress does not need to be added or treated with harmful flame retardants.

GOTS CERTIFIED ORGANIC AND UNTREATED COTTON

The cover is quilted with an unbleached and undyed organic cotton fabric, protecting the child's sensitive skin and allergies. The cover cannot be removed but can be easily spot-cleaned with a well-wrung cloth. Therefore, if you want to take extra care of the mattress in case of accidents, we recommend adding a breathable mattress protector.

The filling is securely enclosed in an inner bag made of organic cotton jersey. The inner cotton bag is encased in a removable outer cover made of thick GOTS certified organic cotton. A practical zipper on the side of the outer cover allows you to remove the cover for washing. A zipper in the inner bag provides easy access to the filling, making it easy to adjust the filling to suit your preferred volume, firmness, and sleep preference.

GOLS CERTIFIED 100% NATURAL LATEX
The central ingredient in our natural latex pillow is the 100% organic natural latex. Natural latex is known for its soft and comfortable body support as well as superior breathability. 100% natural latex is also naturally resistant to bacteria, mold, mildew, dust mites, and other allergens, and is naturally hypoallergenic. However, natural latex is not just natural latex. Often, natural latex is mixed with synthetic latex or filling materials to create a cheaper mattress. Therefore, it has been incredibly important for us to create a natural latex that is certified organic. Our natural latex is therefore GOLS certified, which guarantees that the natural latex is free from artificial and harmful additives, and that the natural latex comes from organic latex plantations, where it has been cultivated without the use of fertilizers or pesticides. Thus, you can be sure that our natural latex is made of 100% natural rubber and does not contain synthetic latex, chemicals, or filling materials.
